Michigan
Artists Gallery (MAG) is decidedly contemporary, colorful, and represents
many of Michigan's most popular established lifelong artists. Fine
art, the best of contemporary folk art, regional photography, and the
wearable art of fiber artist, Chris Triola, are represented by the gallery.
MAG focuses on artwork that is joyful, uplifting, and many times humorous.
You will find the sculpture of nationally known folk artist, Jesse Hickman,
and the much sought after work of self taught artist, Jil Johnson.
Char Bickel's mixed media shadow boxes, Meredith Krell's hand colored linoleum
prints, Pat Custer Denison's tile wood constructions, and the watercolors of
folk painter, Dana Constand, are well collected.
The representational
work of the areas most beautiful landscapes are revealed in the works
of award winning
painters, Angela
Saxon, Carla Sutton, and Dan Oberschulte.
The gallery also represents Ken Scott's regional photography, the aerial
photography of Jim Anderson, and nationally known wildlife photographer,
Carl Sams.
MAG was named "Best Gallery in Leelanau County" by
the readers of the Northern Express Magazine in
2004 poll and named "one of
three essential art venues" in
the book, 100 Best Art Towns in America.
MAG is open year around.
Spring hours are Monday through Saturday
10-5 PM and Sunday
11-4PM.
